Beautiful pics. To me, this one just sums up what the Mk2 Granada is about. I always thought they were a car with serious presence, almost with a sense of self-importance about their styling.

Nice Escort but that Granada is a beautiful car, would love to see more pics, interior shots, etc.

That Granada looks like a MK II facelift, which came out around 81-82.
Isn't the reg a bit early for that? I remember a YEI Mk I pre facelift and a ZEI which might have been a mk 2 facelift from when I was a kid. Sorry, anorak time here.

    Two gorgeous cars btw.

It says 1977 on Cartell.ie but the mark 2 didn't even come out until 1978..... and it's 2.0 litre diesel too apparently.

The backs different too and all the trims, a very different car to the early mk 2 Granada, I served my time on them.....

Its an August 1977 Sligo issue. The very first of the MK2s were released in that month for the '78 model year,so that is literally one of the first regs ever put on one, pretty historical eh...:pac:

Ford usually released their folowing years cars in august/sept/oct of the preceding year.

Yeah, pretty historical alright, for a face lifted mark 2 Granada..............
Any day now we'll see a "vintage" Avensis diesel pretending to be a Carina........

Could have been a demo/show car delivered to Hendersons, the Ford dealer in Sligo. It has metallic and rear headrests, unusual for the time. Friend of mine had an Orion that was originally a full spec demo for them, it had every option available at the time.

Speaking of Granadas the 2 door was never sold here, seems there are less than 15 (I heard 7!) still registered in Germany, its main market at the time.

That car is in Germany, I got the info on the numbers off a friend near Munich who is in a Capri club. Not sure how accurate the info is as any Granada hearse is automatically written as 2 door. The 2 door was rare anyway when it was sold.
