I am just after completing my leaving cert this year and am beginning college in late sept. throughout my leaving cert i prayed to two powerful Saints for all my exams; they gave me support, comfort and most importantly rewarded me with my college place. In return i have made it my mission to make these saints more popular and more known... i have developed a simple site which i would like to share with all of ye..

Congrats on your exam results and college place. You obviously applied your self to your study over the year as Im sure did lots of other successful but less devout satudents.
    (Q) If you had known that two saints would be so instrumental in granting you your college place would you have studied less? Its not like you needed it in the end.:)
Take my advise and keep up the study through out college just incase the powerful saints take their eye off the ball.
    Well done again.:)

Congratulations on passing your entry into college. Study hard and have fun!
Just a slight suggestion "Martin" is spelt as "Matrin" in the tabs.:)
Also, I'd recommend categorising St Martins prayer as a study prayer and one not for exam day.
If There Are Questions Set That I Could Not Answer, Guide And Enlighten My Mind So That I Should Study Them Between Now And The Examinations.

Edit : Damn you Mr Plow!

Around the time that you were praying for your college place, I was praying that no 12 year olds would be raped, strangled and murdered in this country.

Ah well, you win some, you lose some.

Well I'm sure one extra prayer a night ALONGSIDE my usual prayers was no harm

OP: Welcome to the Christianity section. Congratulations on getting your college place. I hope you find a place where you can meet other believers and grow in your faith while at university.

Well done on your entry to college. I can appreciate your faith in the power of prayer to these saints. Just don't allow this to take from the fact that you studied hard and that the results were down to you. These Saints didn't write the exams to suit you nor did they study for you.

We are powerful human beings and are capable of incredible feats when we believe.... in OURSELVES.

God speed and more power to you.

Isnt this just a nice way of saying they did...nothing? Ibet people pray to saints every other day for no bad stuff to happen in the world, or does a saints power only extend to helping with CAO points?

Jeez, is it really necessary for folks to go attacking a student because he said he prayed before his exams? I'll bet those who are pointing the figure are hardly as rational as they claim when it comes to exams e.g Wishing that a certain question or topic will appear. They might even have lucky toppers, pens, charms etc.

I apologise if I was picking holes. I don't mean that. I just wanted to tell the young man that he should believe in himself more. For self-confidence.

^^ And if this were the A&A forum that would be expected surely. The OP clearly wanted to share something about how his conviction in Catholicism influenced how he got through his exams. Please note how none of the posters on this forum immediately went in to criticise the practice of praying to saints.

Personally, I'm encouraged to see that he has come here to share a little bit about his personal experience with us and I hope he continues growing in faith while he goes to university which is a challenging transition in general (challenging, but you will enjoy it koolciaran).

koolciaran: I hope you continue to post here! :)
