    Hello there,

I need some help/advice, one of my mates has asked to me stand in for him to collect the money at the Socs sign up day however I am unsure as to what to do with the money once the Clubs and Socs festival is over. I assume the money is handed over to the Socs office but still not sure. So any help or advice on this and getting people to sign up would be a good help.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

Best thing to do is in to your socs office and find out exactly what the procedure is this year in your campus.

I was signing people up last year(Join the Paintball Soc!) and I had a laptop set up with an MS Access database where people could imput their details so I could search the records more easily. I just handed over the money to the Treasurer to be processed at the end of the day.

You'll be provided with booklets of sign up sheets if you need them too.

What kind of socs does DIT have? Does it go by campus or are they available to all?

Some Societies would focus on one campus, like the Civil Engineering Soc because Civil. Eng. courses are based in Bolton Street. Anyone can join it though.

The Drama Society, or BAM Soc would be for all of DIT, so I think they try to encompass all campus'. I don't know enough about them, its just an example.

The Paintball Society, because we usually get a lot of people signing up, was split into Northside/Southside to try and manage it more effectively. Northside would be based in Bolton Street, and Southside in Kevin Street. I think this year though, we're just going to have the one, and have stands at Bolton and Kevin Street duringt he sign up days.

You can always make your own society if you get 15 members, and apply for funding.

Have a look at www.socs.dit.ie for more info.

Join as many societies as you can. Some weeks there is a society doing an event, another week another society, so GET INVOLVED.
Help the lads in the societies and meet all these people!

and remember there is much more about college than just attending lectures!

See you all on Monday :D

it's not the societies' fault it's the people running it last year. just go to the societies office and ask a contact email or number they will be happy to give it to you

yeah well there's obviously a lack of management on what societies do and how they do it to a certain point
