Change of signature

    Can someone change their signature?

    If they had a passport, driver licence, bank accounts, all with the same signature.

    How would someone begin to do this? Would they have to re-apply for passport, etc.? Anything to consider from a legal point of view?

    I change my signature all the time. I have a very long name and it doesn't always fit so I have to make chops and changes and various abbreviations to accommodate the size of the line provided to me.

    Never been a problem.

    You have never encountered any problems with this?

    No one in the bank or elsewhere has said, sorry, your signature does not match our records, or something similar?

    I worked for a financial institution about 10 years ago and we were quite vigilant in verifying people's signatures... I would have imagined that if it was changed someone would ask a question like that eventually....

    The change I am referring to would be quite noticeable, say going from a scribbly scrawl to clearer lettering...
