So i'm just back after a drive from Dublin to Galway. Something i noticed that seems to have got alot worse all off a suden is the amount of debris in the hard shoulders & in the crash barrier area. I lost count of the amount of burst tires, general huge lumps of rubber that may have once been tires, & sections of bumpers/bodywork between about kinnegad & athlone. Then as i was passing the first exit at athlone i spot of huge rubbish bag right in the middle of the corresponding on ramp, quickly followed by a big black water drum again in the hard shoulder. & then half way between athlone & ballinasloe there was a sheet of ply wood under the crash barrier with about a foot of it sticking out on to the overtaking lane.

Now thankfully most of it wasn't actually out on the road but what the f**k like? Obviously one isnt suppose to pull over on a motorway but i passed plenty who don't seem to know this, so surely all this mess is an accident waiting to happen?

So if there is some crowd supposed to be keeping on top of this they're not doing a very good job.

NRA seem to only have staff living near the M1, other motorways seem badly kept. M8 lay-bys are freightninly close to dumps.

Most of the M1 is maintained by the tolling concessionaire, even much of the non-tolled sections.

The NRA are in charge of that but you wouldn't know it, the state of the motorways is a disgrace. You should report it anyway.
