Can anyone tell me what soups you get in cartons in the supermarket would be best for a low carb / calorie diet as I hear there may be a lot of cream in some of them. I intend to bring have it in work rather than make my own.

    Thanks

It's not the cream I would worry about, it's all the starch and stabilisers used to make the soup thick. Most soups that I've seen are pretty low in nutrition in general. There are some tinned ones which seems to have a decent amount of veg at least, but none of there are very low carb.

You might consider making your own low carb soup and bringing in a flaskful? It sounds unlikely, but brussel sprouts boiled in some stock, then pureed, makes a lovely creamy soup which is low carb, low calorie and is tasty.

store bought soups are pretty packed with carbs. The tins/sachets are useless. those packs of knorr that squishy and stand upright are the "best" store bought ones i've found with 10g carbs per serving. Not exactly ideal if you're going real low carb, but if you must eat it store bought thats the best i've found. Who knows what else is in it, tastes saltier then I thought it would but it was alright. I've been looking for some low carb recipes online but i've yet to find one that doesn't sound watery.

here is one I book marked. The brussel sprouts sounds interesting.

No need to buy soups on a regular basis, much better to make at home
