Not really a hissy fit, short runway (18xx feet) means restrictions on take off weight so short routes are the only option at the moment. What's the point in continuing to invest in it if there is no concrete evidence that the runway will be extended in the near future meaning Ryanair can't plan to expand there as the wanted to.

Typical Irish solution to a problem. Increase prices with no thought for the consequences. Just stupid.

    +1

Government introduces a travel tax which results in flights being cut. Both Dublin and Shannon Airports then decide to increase their landing charges; obviously more flights will get cut and jobs will be lost.

All this happening during the worst recession in living memory and when we have had a drop in tourists numbers. I suppose the government and airport authorities are right - we really don't want any pesky tourists coming here to spend their hard earned money.

There is another runway in belfast and its longer then the main runway in Dublin.
If Belfast is making them money, Ryanair could choose to relocate to Belfast International.

    But I doubt they will.
I dont think Belfast worked for them.

In any case they wont go up against an entrenched Easyjet and a popular Aer Lingus at the international airport.

as a matter of interest , have Ryanair ever left a base for a reason that was their own fault ? thought not ...
They always blame someone else to cover their retreat.

Eh, aer lingus ain't more popular than easyjet aer lingus is a bloody fortune compared tay easyjet. And no ryanair were doing good in belfast everytime i tried too book a flight it was full, dare you to try now it'll probably be nearly full.;) I use ryanair though full family flew too london for 4p and ryanair fly their aircraft at full speed only took 30 mins to get there timed it.

    OwenC ,
where in my post does it say that one airline is more popular then another ?

My point was that Ryanair will not happily engage in a fares war with their 2 biggest competitors in an airport where they are already established and and also have to deal with an airport that has alternatives and cannot be bullied.

Andy G - I have recieved an infraction from you for my post .
I dont understand why and would appreciate an explanation.
There was no airline bashing in my post .
