    Have fun out there.

Not really anywhere further away than Queenstown, NZ to get the Boards AC vest in a race appearance, but I'm sure you can find somewhere more exotic.

would you believe its the first time in 7weeks Ive had a chance to check out Boards! How are ye all doing? everyone all set for DM? The very best of luck with it, have a blast.

Here on the island of Koh Tao, one of the nicest places Ive ever ever been, definitely the best of all south thailand islands. We completed yesterday our 18m open water diving SSI certs. Amazing, has opened up a whole new world to us.

No run as of yet! I know! 7 weeks without running is kerrazy. Been getting good work outs carrying around my bag. we have been in n.thailand, laos for a 3day jungle trek including staying in tree houses, accessed by zipping, did central laos, north to south vietnam, mekong delta, cambodia, south thailand now, and malaysia and singapore left to do before we hit Oz next saturday! Oz a little daunting i have to say - just until we find our feet.

Anyway, hope all y'all are super,

    Marie C

Koh Pang Yang for Christmas, Full Moon Party and New Years is the benchmark against which all others shall be judged. EPIC :D.

Where in Oz are you heading? Seems like ya have the same idea as me. Make sure you do South America on your way back. An amazing place!

No running for me either. Plenty of hikes and other stuff like Kayaking etc to keep the body fit until arrival in Melbourne where I will start again with renewed motivation.

Hitting high altitude soon! Wont be running though! Dont think running in Bolivia and Peru will be quite as beneficial as in Kenya and Ethiopia!

Odd, I used to read your posts when I was out travelling about the running back in Limerick, now you're off and I'm back, have a great time, loved Koh Tao, try for the Advanced Diver course, absolutely class and you get a night dive with phosphorous too, amazing. Way cheaper to do it there than to do it when you get to Oz and you'll really want to dive the barrier reef. (not that you'll need the advanced for the barrier reef)

Christeb - enjoyed Phi Phi alright as we did a crazy snorkelling trip on a long boat, in a storm, and stopped off at maya bay.on the way back though, when we were battling the waves that were filling the boat - we ran out of petrol! was hilarious, super fun. still preferred Koh Tao though, so much less commercial.

RedB- didnt dofullmoon, halfmoon or total eclipse party on Pha Ngan and to be honest I was happy to miss it. As a non drinker, it jsut wouldnt be my cup of tea! excuse the pun

04072511 - heading to melbourne in 2 days! cant wait to start training for something.there's a womens 10k on here in singapore on sunday, pityIll miss it,would have been cool to one somewhere new....... might see ya in melbourne for a run!

Amazotheamazing - Koh tao was definitely something special alright, we are hoping to do a few more dives, and then deffo moved on to advanced. a new hobby!woohoo :p

Yeh could be an idea indeed. Are you going to join a club down there? I'm going to as it will be a good way of meeting local people and want to do some track stuff for awhile instead of long road races. Which club I join will depend on where I get accomodation though.

http://www.athsvic.org.au/ Athletics Victoria seem to have a very good system in place for grassroots athletics, at Track, Road and Cross-Country. Unlike Ireland, if you are in your mid 20's and want to take up sprinting, or jumping for fun you will be easily accomodated and there is lots of competition at your own level. In Ireland this doesnt seem to be possible whioch is why most people end up doing marathons.

They have a cool Road Race Relay and Cross-Country league that goes on during their winter aswell which looks really good with the emphasis being on your team aswell as your individual performance. Should be fun.

I have 3 weeks in the high Andes now for serious altitude training (ahem!!) :D:rolleyes:

    Hi 04072511,

Havent been on Boards in a while but jsut stuck my head in today for a look.

So where did you end up settling in Melbourne? Did you join a club?
If you have any info on the Road Race Relay and Cross-Country league would you let me know. It sounds interesting.

I didnt join any club as couldnt afford to financially. Plus the tan is only across the road where I live so I have a place to run anyway. Im going to do the Sri Chimnoy yarra 15km this weekend - my first funrun here so should be interesting and fun I hope. Havent a clue really how my training is going here. If its not hot its humid, and running on those sand tracks I think is slowing me down.... Will report back after sunday.:)
