Today is the last day that you can change your plates into zv. 31st August 2010.
Revenue finished dealing with owners after this date and you will have to pay a percentage of the value they put on your car at the NCT centre after they check your vehicle for the correct paperwork matching chassis number for one.. I was at a club meeting last night and everyone got a major shock. so pass the word around quick. No need to bring the car along just the paperwork. €40 or €50 should bring her in if she is classic.
representations were made to Brian Cowen some months ago but he would not listen to what people on our side of the fence had to say.
All i know is that this is going to get very akward for the man and woman that has a few cars in the shed. Remember that you have to put your PPS number at the top of the form.
Tax man is closing the noose. Looks like we are heading back to the day that only a certain percentage of people will be able to afford to maintain and run what has raised millions for charities all over the country.
Just a word of warning lads ans lassies. Take care

What i want to know is why were taking this lying down?? they protest for everything else in this country....just look at taxi drivers(no offence ment to taxi drivers) they had the city blocked half the day.....So y arnt we....??

you haven't got that quite right.

From tomorrow instead of going to the VRO to re-register an import, you will have to go to the NCT centre to have the car inspected and pay the VRT. If it is over 30 years old it will still qualify for a ZV reg. If it is first registered before 1.1.1980 it will still be exempt from the NCT test itself.

You will now have 7 days from the date of importation to book an inspection and 30 days to complete the process.According to the NCTS website, you will most probably be required to show evidence of the date of importationand purchase.

This has serious implications for all the un registered cars in the country

    already being discussed here
