do data recorders/ black boxes use tapes or solid state ?

    guys

    just watching ACI and it seems about +50% of the time information retrieved from black boxes, cockpit recorders etc is useless.

    Do they use memory/electronic devices for storing voices or is it all tape..?

    just wondering, i would be amazed if modern aircraft use tape tbh!

    Older ones had a magnetic tape,modern DFDR's and CVR's are solid state
