So i have a garmin 705. When i return from a ride i load it up to garmin connect and from there i view it.

What i cant do however is view the gradient profile in % of the ride. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Cant help you with Garmin Connect,I haven't tried it, but I use the Garmin Training Center, which came with the 705 and is installed on my PC. You can look at all the stats in Training Center, including gradient %.

I did a quick google, and it looks like Connect will eventually replace TC, but all the functionality (like gradient %) is not there yet.

One option is to upload your Garmin workout file to an alternative website that does provide gradients. I use ridewithgps.com but there are several. It is a bit of hassle but it doesn't take long to upload (as far as I can remember, TCX format is the best one to use when uploading).

The latest google earth version can do gradient/profile/speed if you open a gpx or kml file in it

Rather than open up a new thread I'll latch onto this. Can someone advise whether the Garmin automatically excludes stopped time at traffic lights or otherwise when determining average speeds and duration of your cycle etc. I don't believe mine excludes stopped time so I'm wondering how I can set this up as it's somewhat distorting my results particularly in traffic or stopped at the side of a hill panting.
    Thanks

    Mine does.

If you look here( http://connect.garmin.com/activity/46675332 ) at the timing on the left side You will see moving time and elapsed time.

I cant remember if You have to set the auto pause function or if it comes enabled. If you have the manual it should say it in it or you can get the pdf manual here ( http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/Edge605_OwnersManual.pdf )

Looking at it its on page 14 to enable it.
