The bushing that you pictured is worn and should be replaced.

In saying that I very much doubt that it will fix your problem.

The average driver would not "feel" this wear as it has been getting slowly worse over a very long period and the driver will have become accustomed to the slightly worse handling of the vehicle. I say this because the bush appears to be still in place and no pieces completely torn or missing.

Have you been regularly driving this car?

Have you recently inflated the tyres? (to the correct pressure. I mean, have you over inflated possibly due to a faulty gauge.)

Where you carrying a particularly heavy load in the boot?

If you answer yes to the first and no to the second and third questions then I suggest you get the steering and suspension checked asap, as any sudden unaccountable difference in vehicle handling could have very dire consequences a few meters down the road.

similar happened to me a long time ago on a Seat. Was seized shocks. Very Dangerous. I'd drop into nearest quick fit or similar. The bushing you posted isn't great looking but I don't think that it would contribute in any great way to the symptoms you describe.

Check your springs for breaks too.

    Hope you get it sorted.
