Yup, after months of looking for a classic Mini shell to restore, I tracked one down in Kanturk. Going to collect it this weekend, it's not in the best condition, but should be fun to work with. Needs a few panels replacing, including the roof, but I'm hoping to rescue as much of the original metal as possible. Comes with glass, an interior (Which will do temporarily until I sort a new one), and no engine.

Which leaves me in a bit of a quandry, do I put a nice powerful Mini engine in, or do I go mental and do an electric conversion for the hell of it. Decisions decisions!

Reminds me of that hammer that was in a family for five generations, in all that time it needed only three new heads and five new handles.

    ;)

    Good luck with the project.

Their is a guy who races a mini in Mondello that has a civic 1.6 block in it and its a little rocket of car.

Seems to be the way to go.

There's a guy in my club with a huge honda setup using a Zcar kit, would leave any normal 1.6 conversion for dead. I'd prefer to either stick with an A+ engine, or go the other route.

    Good luck with it.
    Go electric for the craic!
If you keep it light without spending a fortune on fancy batteries, and gear it low, the silent acceleration should be great fun!
Look forward to the pics whichever way you go.

A standard Leyland colour (I think)
Pretty sure an All-aggro I had was that shade.
Horrid car , but groovy colour :). ( my allegro, not that mini!)

Thanks, I shy away from irishminis.ie, partly because I used to be a member, and mostly because I was one of the founding members of miniclub.ie

i had a 1380cc , twin su inch and 3/4 carbs, racing cams. in my last one. you might have seen it at the miniclub cork 100 a few years back and she was in ger's o learys garage on a few occasions.
it was a fantastic engine but the torque steer was horrendous and the gearbox didn't last long. sold it to a chap in dublin, he got a fantastic mini, didnt have the 1000e for a gearbox rebiuld at the time

in the min before that i had a 1340cc, this was much better with a single su carb, much more usable on a daily basis
