    Hi all

Just broke a pair of earphones worth 100 quid that were within their warranty but lost receipt (clever me) so need a new pair asap. Wondering if anyone has seen these type of earphones around in any shops and if so, what price are they?

Not really a fan of buying off the net.

Also any reviews would be nice :D

    Thanks

I had a pair similar to those one, honestly I wouldn't recommend them. Too much pressure is placed on the extension part of the headphones, which is only made of thin plastic. As a result they will break in about 2 months (well mine did anyway, with careful usage!). IIRC they have a pretty good warranty, I never bothered getting mine replaced though. The sound quality was not great, not bad, but not great, a bit shallow. They're sold more as a fashion accessory than as an experience in audio listening as far as I'm concerned. On a positive note, they are very comfortable, and do exclude pretty much all external noise, but by the nature of their design you can't lean your head against the window on a bus and catch 40 winks

skull candy are a load of pants.

you would get a pair of hd 201's for about 15e which would be a lot better

    Don't, don't, don't buy skullcandy headphones.

I learned the hard way that:
    a) they break far too easily, I'm on my replacement's replacement's replacement. That lifetime guarantee is a lifetime of hassle.
    b) They're massively overpriced I got a set of skullcandy GI's about 2 years ago for £28 they're more than double that today and still have the same spec.
    c) The sound they produce isn't that good.
    d) They're not that comfortable. One of their products is called Skullcrushers. Skullcrushers by name and nature. Think Joe Pesci in Casino with that vice.

    Couple of questions for you:

Are you looking to block out noise from others and keep your music to yourself? Open design allow music to leak in and out but generally offer better depth of music or closed headphones stop leakage in and out.

How much are you willing to spend? You're money goes further online and you can compare prices very easily. Most bricks and mortar shops won't allow you to try before you buy so either way you're buying blind so to speak. Read up before you invest online or offline.

What music genre(s) do you listen to mostly? Certain headphones work better with certain genres so bare that in mind. It might not have a major effect but different headphones flavour music differently.

This is an american website and doesn't ship all of its products here but the guide is very helpful for steering you in the right direction.

Some of it might not apply to you, it is a bit or a read but you should defo do some research for yourself and ask others for advice.

If you like rock music and are willing to spend a bit more I would reccomend a pair of Grado SR80i's

They're an open phone, but for the genre they're out of this world for the price, but not so good if you're a bit fashion consense :P

I've Allessandro MS1i which are $110 and are practically the same as Grado's (they've been tweeked) but without the crazy Grado pricing. They're not quite as rocky as true Grados from my reading but they're still a bargain considering they're rated above the 80's by some.

    I love them to bits.

Yeah, I should have mentioned the MS1i also, but I've never heard them personally and don't like recommending phone's I haven't tried myself but I've heard a lot of good things about them, I think I looked around for a pair before purchasing the grado's and couldn't find any in europe

You can only buy from the US website, it took about 2 weeks to get them but they tend to get their supply from Grado in batches. I think I got lucky getting them as some people were left waiting almost 2 months to get them. It's a super price for them and you can customize them to make them even better.

The price of the grados just was too much but they're still on the wishlist. Sorry for going off topic OP but I love them to bits.
