I am looking for a flexible crack filler. i dont want to use silicone as i will need to paint over it.

its for the split running along the side of my stairs. there is a bit of movement as i walk up the stairs. ( no i am not that fat)

would caulk do it? or has anyone got a got brand they have used beofre.

it will need to be able to adhere to timber and plaster. and be paintable.

    thanks in advance guys

    Caulking should do it

Caulk will do it. Run a bead of it down the gap, wet your finger and smooth off. Done.

You can buy caulk in a tube similar to a silacone tube for €2 or €3.

I find that caulk has a tendency to crack on occasion after I've used it. Maybe builders mate would be the way to go

One is 6 the other is half a dozen.

They vary from brand to brand. Painters mate is good gear though.

It sounds like you need to harden up the wedges under the sides of your stair treads first, to stop the movement.

the thing is i can get under the stairs where the cracking is occurring. i think possibly for the most part the timber has shrank a bit causing the initial cracking. sure i will fire some or that stuff into it and see how it holds up
