Copying and pasting text without the formatting

    Hi,
I'm hoping to find a convenient way to copy a page of text and be able to paste it without it's formatting - ie to paste it directly as plain text.

Can anyone explain a quick way of doing this other than posting it in to a different text field and re-copying it?

    Thanks very much

Is "Past and match style" not sufficient?

I don't know one off-hand, but there are utilities out there that that will convert your clipboard to plain text.

where app are you pasting into?

if it's just textedit before you paste go to format [I think - not near a mac at the moment] > make plain text

when you paste it will be just plain unformatted text

if pasting into some other app - paste as plain text in textedit first then copy from there & paste into your app

    That's an application-specific menu-option in Pages IIRC.

In MS Word you can "Paste" or "Paste Special" from the Edit menu. Selecting "Paste Special" brings up a number of options one of which is something like "unformatted text".

Other apps have other options; try selecting "Paste" from the Edit menu using the modifier keys <CTRL>, <CMD> or Apple Key, <ALT>, etc
