How to reinstall my printer driver?

    Hi folks,

My printer has started acting weird and I can't for the life of me figure out how to reinstall the driver.

It has just started printing first bit of the page, then sucking in a new page and printing a bit there, then sucking in a new one etc. It uses about an inch or two of paper before going to the next page.

The funny thing is that printing text from Crimson Editor works fine!

The printer is Canon Pixma iP5200R and my OS is Windows Server 2008r2 Standard. It's the same kernel as Windows 7 64-bit.

I think Windows have gone off and updated the driver from Windows Update and it's causing problems. Canon haven't released an official driver for Windows 7, but it was working fine with Vista x64 driver.

    Any help would be appreciated!

How about trying a System Restore > Start > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore?

Before re-installing or updating a print driver you better always go to the server properties and delete the old one.

Server properties pops up as soon as you select any printer in windows 7 > Devices & Printers.
It will not let you uninstall/delete the old driver until you have deleted the printer.

I've tried disabling my network connection so that windows update won't take over, and removed the printer, uninstalled the driver etc, and same thing happened. Don't think I have any restore points saved, but I managed to get it working. Maybe the thread will help others.

I bought a new monitor and it turns out that the color management scheme was freaking the printer out. When I changed the color management back to the "sRGB virtual device" it went back to normal.

I thought color management would affect the colors if anything, but no, it completely messed out the printouts. I've wasted quite a bit of paper figuring it out, but I'm glad it finally works. :)
