Car insurance up for renewal tomorrow.Currently with RSA(got it through Cornmarket) and they're charging me €527,up from €460 last year.I'm 35,my partner and I insured in 07 Kia Ceed Crdi 1.6.Had a quick check around and insure.ie came in at €350!!Thats a major saving. But I cant see who the policy is with, what the excess is and the policy details are basic, they dont give many details. So,anyone use these guys?Do they pay out?Or should I stick with my current insurer?I had to make a claim last year for €1200(car reversed into side of mine in middle of night) and RSA paid out no probs. My NCB was also not affected.Do I have to declare this claim if I switch insurers?

I have 2 cars insured with them. Touch wood have not had to make a claim. You probably have to mention that claim from last year even if it was 'not your fault' and your NCB remains.

I am with insure.ie for past 4 years and they always gave me very competitive rates while renewal. For past 3 years they gave me policy with Asgard and this year I am with AXA. Did you get your quote online? or ring them? if you ring and ask them they should tell you which insurer they got 350 quote for. Also, if it is better to let them know about your claim.

    Thank you.

If you have a claim against your policy, even if it doesnt affect your NCB, you may well find a lot of insurance companies will not take you on as new business. I would recommend ringing up insure.ie and talking with them.

Edit: yes you must declare the claim. Lying to insurance companies is a sure fire way to leave yourself screwed if you ever need them to pay out.

Rang insure.ie,told them about small claim, quoted me €398 which includes ncb protection. Then rang Cornmarket who quoted me €490 and their policy is a bit better than insure.ie who are using company called Kenco who I've never heard off.Something inside me telling me to stick with Cornmarket/rsa for the sake of €92.Anyone hear of Kenco?apart from coffee of course!!

Insure.ie are grand, I got insurance with AXA through them 2 years ago, and there was absolutley no problem with them, they're just a broker. Like 123.ie, or CompareTheMarket.com(In England)

I looked up Cenco Insurance, they seem to be part of Aviva, so they've gotta be legit.

The underwriter is Kennco (http://www.kennco.ie/) not Cenco.

I was going through the broker Mike Murphy for years but they change their personal car insurance to insure.ie a few years back and have gone through them ever since. never had to claim touch wood but i did break down in galway a couple of months ago and rang up and was towed half an hour later. they are cheaper than anywhere else i can find too.

Blahblah06-excess with insure.ie is €250,but €200 with Cornmarket but they don't charge provided damage is repaired by a repairer recommended by the insurer.other websites not coming in with decent quotes under €500 so it's either Cornmarket or insure.ie
