Hi im just wondering if someone could help me with this problem,my ex employer (who also happens to be my ex boyfriend) recently paid me with a cheque for €200 which i went and tendered in a shop,i didnt think anythin of it until the gardai arrived at my house this evening sayin the cheque had bounced so i rang my employer and asked wtf is going on and he realised he must have paid me from the wrong cheque book because the other account had been closed hence why the cheque bounced, now the gardai are convinced we done this to try and con people because the business was closing down but i could put my hand on my heart and say we didnt, but they also said i have to pay the money back to the shopkeeper by wednesday or il be facing a judge.Im also a single mother and cannot afford to pay this money back in such a short space of time but the gardai wouldnt accept my answer!!sorry for ranting on but basically my question is am i the one actually liable to pay this money or should it not be upto my employer to pay it since he gave me the cheque in the first place??
Thanks to anyone who can help im worried sick

I don't believe you may ask for advice here. You can relay a story in the third person which means "you" aren't looking for advice. Otherwise you'll be needing to see a solicitor. Its well documented in the forum stickies and the forum charter.
