    Hi all,
Flying from Shannon to JFK this friday - have the customs opened operations in SNN or do I have to wait until stateside to clear them?!
    Thanks

In august 2008 I flew SNN - ATL with Delta and cleared immigration in Shannon. If that's the same thing then it's definitely open!

There is full immigration and customs pre-clearance in Shannon. I believe it is up to each airline if they wish to use the facilities, so it depends on the airline.

Not the same thing. They have a customs clearance now.

Aer Lingus only use CBP for their New York flights from Shannon, the Boston flights still have to clear CBP stateside. Also Aer Lingus are still in Terminal 4(Intl Terminal) in New York and have said they won't move terminals until CBP opens in Dublin, and then they'll also start using CBP for the Shannon-Boston flights. AFAIK they'll also be moving from Airside 1 to Airside 4 in Orlando once CBP opens in Dublin.

Are they as anal as everyone makes out?

    Yes and no.

They are officious alright but are 100% nicer than their stateside colleagues.
