    phuckin dimwits

4 weeks to fit a car stereo

Went to look at getting a bluetooth stereo for the car a month ago
went to the well known accessory shop as it was close to work
anyway was advised to get the latest Sony BT-MEX stereo and as
i had an older version in my previous car i had no hesitation in agreeing
with the "salesboy" anyway i was told i needed a wiring loom and facia
plate (as it was going into a vw golf mk5) no bother says i, and i
paid in full for everything (including the fitting) they said they would
ring when the parts came in and we could organise a fitting date, no
bother says i , 4 days later i got a call that the parts were in as it
was 11 in the morning i asked if there were any slots available in the evening as they open till 8, i was told the earliest was saturday morning
so again i said no bother, so i took a 11 o clock slot, arrived at 10:55
and went in to advise i was there, i got speaking to the "manager"
who frankly was an ignorant, arrogant, arsehole with the people skills
of a rock, told him i was booked in for a fitting, he TOLD me i wasnt
so i proceeded to show him my call log with their number on it after
a lot of eye rolling and humpfing he looked around and asked a colleague
to fit a stereo for "this guy", i took it in my stride and laughed it off
anyway the 2nd guy went out and fitted the stereo, all weel and good...
... i thought, anywho went home and parked up , i had to go out again
about 2 hours later and when i went to the car the stereo was still on,
so i went into the stereo settings and switched the auto off to 30 secs
went off and parked up at the shops and did the shopping, when i got
back the stereo was still on !!

so i was now having to turn off the stereo manually - not a great
issue in general but there would be that 1 time when id forget and the
    stereo would drain the battery

Went back into Hal woops, the well known car store and asked them to look at it the ROCK got one of his guys to have a look
1 guy turned turned to 2 and eventully 4 all gathered around the car
if anyone passed they would have thought either someone was dead
or cheryl cole was bent over pantyless in the back seat, anyway
they came to the conclusion that the audio expert would need to look at it
and he wouldnt be available to look at it till the following friday.

went back in on the friday and without even getting into the car the bloke
said to me that it would need a extra wiring section to "trick the engine
into thinking the ignition had an ACC position" and it would cost
46 sheets, i told them that i was not told id need this at the inital
purchase and if i was told i would have opted for something else as with
the stereo, loom, facia and the trick switch it would have added up to
the bones of 300 euro, after arguing with him i went into the rock and told
him my story after another series of eye-rolling, humphing and tantrums
he said they would cover the cost of the new wire switch and fitting
but it ould take a couple of weeks to come in, anyway got the call on
wednesday to come in today (sunday), so i got out of my **** chariot
at 10:00 ON A SUNDAY, and went into the Ballysimon woops, where
they are based, after 30 mins and 2 employees they came back to me and handed me the keys and said it was done

they were right, as soon as you take the keys out of the ignition the
    stereo goes off

but the car has to be started for the radio to come on

    incompetent phucking arseholes

    sorry for the rant

car accessory shop took 4 weeks to iron out problems with car stereo
fitting and even after that it isnt working properly, the stereo
goes off with the engine off al right but will only go on with the
    engine running

    needed new radio

got new update of his old one

waited about a week for the parts and fitting

didn't turn off when the car was off

told it would be €46 more to add a new thing to fix the problem
argued a while and got it for free

The guys fixed it and it turns off when the car is off but needs the car turned on for the radio to work.

bought a new stereo in halfords limerick.
    booked it in for fitting.
got it fitted on day and time it was booked.
a minor issue with new stereo became apparent on getting home.
went back to shop and they told him another part was needed.
they ordered and fitted the new part for free.
    stereo now works perfectly.
got out of wrong side of bed today so decided to create pointless thread on boards.

Where did he say he went to Halfords? You're just assuming that cos they have a bad rep for minimum wage cashiers expected to know how to install equipment into your car that some people pay money to mechanics to do and so on :D

I'd say they had the orange and red wires mixed up and if you swap them (no extra part needed) it would work like it should. Had this prob with a hands free kit not shutting off correctly and just swapped them hey presto worked properly.

They were both had an in line fuse so were easy to swap.

There are a couple of people EPM was one who had a nightmare with them over a car stereo
