Ben Cousins - Farewell to a Champ

Round 22 saw the end of one of the best and most controversial AFL careers of all time as Ben Cousins played his last game.

The former Eagle took to the field today for Richmond against Port Adelaide and was given a rousing send off by all in attendance.

I first saw Ben live in his debut season in 1996 where he was voted Rookie of the Year and he went on the be a Brownlow medallist, Premiership winner and general superstar.

Of course his off the field activities have been well publicised and this week's 'Such As Life' documentary gave a clear insight to his drug addiction but no one can deny he is one of the greatest talents to have played the modern game.

Absolute legend and will probably always be my favourite player.

Has there been a midfield trio as good as him, Judd and Kerr? Possibly not.

Cousins back in trouble again with drugs, been charged with posession.

such a shame to see a person get dragged so horribly deep into the mess.

Its worse when you read his book and watch that doco on him. Just makes them both to be worthless now, or his opinions really. Maybe others can use them as a positive, in that no matter how well you look on the outside, you can never be clean off the stuff unless you really want to be.
