Installing a System boiler in place of a conventional

    As a break out from my other thread;

Replacing my old Oil Regular (conventional) boiler with a LPG System type boiler. I cant find any regular condensing LPG boilers (used) at the moment.
I understand the System doesnt need the "hot" tank/vent in the attic and can (should?) run from mains water.

Its not really going to be too possible to do that as the boiler is in the garage (not part of the plan to move it indoors), so any thoughts on using the system boiler as a drop in replacement to the regular one?
I should be able to remove the Hot tank from the loop anyhow.

Cool thanks. Unfortunately the one I found is is a 24i, not RI so it appears to be a System only type.

Is there a checklist of parts to be changed when moving from Open Vent to System boiler? My water is well pump fed at about 40psi, is this high enough for a System boiler?

That link I posted is of the 24Ri

If you seal or semi seal your heating system ,you can take a feed for the heating system from anywhere you like.

Worcester bosch system boilers will work on low pressure ,but the manufacturers recommends a pressure of anything from 1 - 1.5 bar

As far as I know all worcester greenstar boilers are available in LPG.

Theres not a lot to do to convert an open vented heating system ,provided it's not part of a dual system.

I know your link is for the RI(!) but I was looking at lightly used boilers and found an 24I already set up for LPG, 2 years old with very minimal usage.

I presume Sealing the system would involve replacing the HE tank with a Expansion tank. What about the Hot Water Cylinder, Im reading confusing conflicting reports that you can / cannot use a vented type cylinder with a sealed system?

I can't advise you when it comes to using a second hand boiler.

(Worcester must have done the conversion,if the boiler was nat gas.)

Christ, you arent going to be held to it. The question isnt even about the boiler, it just planning the rest of the system!?

That boiler, that I merely mentioned as a possibility, is sold as an LPG boiler too.

I know ,but if it's been converted to LPG by somebody ,it must have been done by worcester on-site.
Basically make sure it was sold as an LPG boiler.

Jesus ,if you heard the horror stories that cowboys get up to with boilers ,you'd be weary too.

There are people who have died over the little question of conversion, there were two deaths recently, due to something as silly as conversion.

My advise to you is never use a second hand gas boiler, it only as good as the fella who is checking it over and it's just not worth the risk, let someone else make the headlines.

Viessmann and Ariston do regular LPG boilers from what i remember, don't forget the flushing as a modern gas boiler will breakdown very quickly on a dirty system.
