Complex VRT question

i'm thinking about buying a 06 vectra VXR with a V6 2.8T engine at around 250g/Km co2......If I were to reduce the engine size with a transplant to say a 1.8 and a lower co2 output at around 185g/km what effect would it have on the VRT.
would the market value of the car increase and in turn increase the VRT or could I put the car through as say a lower-range 1.8 model with an accordingly reduced market value and VRT price.
    thanks!

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Would you not just buy a 1.8?

You could get the 1.8 and get the body kit no?

I think you'd just he better off forking out for the real deal.

Or just paying the incremental difference in the VRT... how much is it?
Removing a good engine for a weener engine just to avoid tax (which may not work, they base it on the V5C anyhow) is just so so dumb. You seem to have missed the point of the sports model entirely.

would I be cynical to suggest the idea is to put back the big lump after getting the vrt cheap?

Lol, I thought that too, hence asking the VRT difference. Lifting engines, making it work, getting it certified and reregistered in the UK then undoing the mechanical change would surely cost a couple of grand, plus the price of the 1.8lump and ECU.

If thats the plan it doesnt sound like a very well thought out one.

it sounds like it would be expensive and pointless,

as mentioned just buy a 1.8 and get a vxr bodykit, to buy and engine and fit it would surely cost a fortune,
i wonder how many rs4`s are going around with a 1.9tdi under the bonnet:eek:
