CSI Vegas...has it gone down hill?

I'm a big fan of CSI:V, the Grissom years were great, season 7 still stands as the best series imo....the miniature killer, the series long arc was fantastic!

But since the start of series 8 i feel the show and writing has gone way down, bordering on bad, i think alot of the actors are just jaded and dailing it in. I think in the case of this show it has had a season or 2 too many. Fishburn was a bad choice for lead imo...he's just not that interesting a character.

    Opinions?

I think alot of shows like CSI that started after it are now getting better, while the quality of CSI has stayed the same or gone down a bit it recent years making it look worse than it actaully is.

Bones in my opinion is much better than the current CSI: Vegas.

I think after Season 4/5 it did go down hill. There were some great episodes like the Grave Danger two parter and the "Anonymous" killer that was spread out of the first few seasons, and even some in the later seasons like the Miniature Killer. But when the cast started to leave one by one I started to loose interest and knew it wouldn't be as good without them. Warrick went, then Sarah and then Grissom. It was Grissom leaving that it for me though. Fishburn isn't too bad though, Grissom was a great character and it would be heard for any actor to try and fill his shoes.

Yeah, i loved Grissom's character, he was only supposed to take a sabbatical i thought, any idea when he may come back?

It went bad after Warrick and Grissom left imo

the best and very sad night is when warrick was dying and grissom held him , and kept holding him a bit after. there wasnt a dry eye in the house.

I think one of the best eps. was Monster In a Box.

In fairness, Grissom wasn't a particularly good character at the start. Fishburn isn't too bad and could develope into something more interesting (I can't see the series stopping anytime soon). I thought he was good in the cross over episode with the slave trade and it showed that he had a more human side than the others as he hadn't been exposed to as many crimes and couldn't get used to it.

But he's certainly no Horatio. :D

CSI has finally succeeded in capturing Katee Sackhoff.
The Battlestar Galactica firebrand and recent 24 alum—who was CSI producers’ first choice to replace Jorja Fox three years ago before a higher power inexplicably nixed her hiring—is joining the cast in a potentially recurring role.
Sackhoff will play Detective Reed, a smart, tough, and feisty investigator with an acknowledged lack of sensitivity. Her first episode is slated to air during November sweeps.
Ironically, Sackhoff’s role sounds an awful lot like the one she didn’t get—spitfire Riley Adams. (Lauren Lee Smith got that part. And then got canned).

Will this make it better

when William Petersen left, and fishburne took over, i gave it a go but he's just not up to the mark. They should have went with 1st choice Kurt Russell.

    http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2010/11/03/csi-scoop-marg-helgenberger-talks-about-her-contract-her-tv-boyfriend-and-william-petersen/

Could Marg Helgenberger be exiting next
CSI stalwart Marg Helgenberger thinks its “kind of remarkable” that her procedural has held up so well after so many years. But even if it remains a global phenom (and one of CBS’ top performers), it’s hard for her to imagine working on the veteran show beyond this year. ”I’m only actually negotiated for this season. That’s all I’m really thinking about right now is just finishing up this season,” Helgenberger told EW at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Presents: Primetime TV Crimefighters event on Monday in California. “So no, I don’t … not much longer. Not much longer.”
Helgenberger admits that working with Laurence Fishburne (“the consummate professional”) has been fun, and that her co-star should have no concerns about CSI’s former leading man William Petersen coming back for an extended stay. ”If I were to put money on it, no. He would never come back on any kind of full-time way,” she said. “He might come back to do an episode or two towards the end of the entire run, but no. He was ready to go.”...................

Some of the new seasons are ok, I loved the Dr. Jekyll badguy, but not sure about this "I Am No One" serial killer, too freaky!

However I was mad when Jessica Lucas (Ronnie Lake) left, boooo!

That episode where she's running around the horror set, madre de dios! :D

+1 on Ronnie, but we did get to her her fine self on Melrose Place last year....stunning girl. Personally i hated the Dr. Jekyl arc last season, dreadful ending to it, but i am totally digging this Ian Moone/I Am No One...he's soo creepy it's great!

Huge fan of the show and have to say I still love it ..very sad Grissom is not coming back as to be honest i love nerds and had a huge crush on him.:o
Still does so thanks to re-runs i get to see him again and again..

Didnt make sense tho that he left the show to be with Sarah and then she came back

I must have missed something there.

^ they've never addressed why Sara is in Vegas and not with Grissom, i'm sure at some stage they'll write in that her and Grissom drifted apart, mutually, still friends etc - some crap like that.

Off screen Petersen and the actress who plays Sara really disliked each other, it was probably one of the reasons why she came back, when he left, plus the paycheck.

Oh didnt know they didnt like each other...you're right, makes sense why she came back.

In the show when she comes back, I think its mentioned they got married, in fact she even has a ring on, but yes no explainations on why hes not back with her.

I first read when he left the show that he was still a producer of the show and would make guests appearances at time...still waiting for that:(
