    RAF A330 unveiled
    The first A330 for the Royal Air Force has been rolled out.

    August 27: The first A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft (FSTA) destined for the Royal Air Force has been rolled out at Airbus Military’s facility at Getafe in Spain.

    Airbus Military has completed indoor systems trials required before the first flight and will continue with the outdoor trials before being handed over to the Flight Test Team for First Flight, due in the first part of September.

    The first of 14 aircraft, following the flight-test programme it will be delivered in late 2011 to the AirTanker consortium that will operate the RAF contract.

    Sorry but what would they want an a330 for, would they not want fast fighter jets?

    It's a multi role tanker transport so that there fighters, C-130s, Helos can be refueled in mid air, think of it in civi terms as a comby half pax half cargo, it'll replace the Royal Air Force's existing L-1011 and VC10 tankers

    i can just see it now an a330 in all over grey loaded to the balls with air to air missiles and afterburning engines. that would be a sight
