    Hey guys and gals,
just like the title says, I need some advice on painting clothes!
Currently contemplating a Halloween costume that will mean I'll
have to completely paint or spray an outfit! Jacket, trousers, shoes, accessories, the lot!

My aim is to cover everything evenly but not have it crack and flake
off too soon! Aiming for a hard, plastic look if that makes sence! :)
Household paint? A few layers of spray paint?
Im a student bum so I need to make this as cheap as possible without looking rubbish!

Anyone have any success in this area perhaps? :p:D

I assume this is to wear as a one-off? If so, it depends on how much detail you want. If not, you'll need special fabric paint - try art supply shops and hobby shops. Spray cans can really only cover learge areas. Would suggest an airbrush and some fabric paint, but that's probably out of the budget. Also, freehand stencils. Hold a piece of card against the material, spray, instart hard line. You can also cut curcles in them or more elaborate shapes.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

If you use acrylic or poster paint, it will harden as it dries. Better to do a few ight layers (with large paint brush?) as one thick layer will start to flake off.
Don't think spray paint will harden.
Fabric paint is designed to be washable and soft.

    Hi,
If you add pva glue to acrylic or poster paint it will make it more flexible and is less likley to flake.
You could also consider using MAGIX leather shoe spray. It comes in a large variety of colours. It will adhere to most fabrics, leathers and plastics, and is also washable. You can usually buy it from cobblers.
