Could anyone briefly tell me what born again christians' beliefs are when it comes to dating etc?
I'm just a bit confused as I was seeing someone last year who over the past few months became born again. I've absoulutley no problem with this I was just curious as I'm not sure if he will still be intrested in seeing me now because I'm not a born again christian myself? Apoligies If I'm a bit unclear!

Depends on the Christian. Why not ask your ex if you are on speaking terms?

We're on really good terms, I just don't want to make him feel awkward if I was to ask! I don't want to feel like im leading him on in any way if we do start seeing eachother again, do you think it would be difficult us to be in a relationship as im not born again?

It really depends on how devout he is.I think it really is a question you need to ask him for yourself.

I personally would consider dating a practicing Catholic girl but I'd find it hard to date an agnostic/atheist. But that's just me.

I've tried but it just doesn't work, completely different world views etc.

Also, if you are expecting a physical relationship, he probably won't want the same, so you;d have to consider that, if sex is important to you, it won't work.

If he's asked to see you again, it obviously doesn't bother him and I can't see how it will be awkward to discuss this if you get on well. Honesty is huge in any relationship be it Christian or otherwise.
However, if you aren't in agreement with religious views, it can add strain to a relationship.

I would always advice against a relationship like this. I believe Paul's warning about an "unequal yoke" is in place here.
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? (2Co 6:14 ESV)

I really don't believe that any person's faith should matter in a relationship. As an Atheist engaged to a catholic woman I can first handedly say that it just don't matter. Why should some people in this day and age say that they couldn't go with somebody because of their religion......stupid really.. I think it's the person that counts not the religion.. If a person is nice and you really get on together whats the point in letting religion stand in your way.. I can respect her beliefs just like she respects my lack of.. As about born again Christians personally I think the have it set up better than the RCC, Pastors being able to marry and all that plus if anyone actually did read the bible it says that there should be no statues of false gods which the RCC has in abundance with saints and everything the BAC have none of that..

So thats the end of my rant

Could you explain what that quote means I don't really understand it?! big words confuse me! :(
I can see your point anyway, I'm just trying to think of the right thing to do.I think it would be hard for me to be in a relationship with him cause we both have different opinions on religion!

Thanks you've made me feel a bit better about the situation! :) I just wouldn't feel comfortable talking to him about it now cause he obviously has his strong opinions on it whereas mine wouldnt be as strong! But he should be able to respect mine as I respect his, as you said!

The "unequal yoke" is a picture from rural Israel. It referes to a plough with an ox and say a donkey pulling it - and that is never a good idea.
The Bible uses the picture of a yoke to describe our life (problems) with a very comforting promise that Jesus yoke is easy.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Mat 11:28-30 ESV)
Regarding the "unequal yoke" as a picture for a relationship, for a (real) Christian God is number one in his/her life. All other relationships are subject to this and find their fullfilment because of this. So this includes spouses, children etc.! If you cannot share the number ONE love of your life with a friend, the relationship is deemed to be "unequal"
