no im not from dublin so im not really clued up with the residents from there

no offence meant i just figured that it being a festival there would have been a somewhat well known name on the bill but you seem to be focusing on local talent, which is commendable

    best of luck

That seems so, but, €20 a pop...thats a tough one, good luck all involved "Unfortunately MrsZ arrives soon, but all de best. though I think less artists/gimmicks and more quality permormers = more fun/revenue...but thats me

Alot of local artiist's which has been said before, commendable, but...profitable in todays climate on at such a price on such a large scale...we will see....good luck :)

Give It Socks was born out of an idea to put on a festival to showcase some of the best talents from around the county. Week in week out so many people give up their free time and dedicate themselves to putting on good parties and playing good tunes, and most of them do it for free too!
Give It Socks is no exception, funded out of the pockets of three music lovers the festival will platform these hard-working acts all in the name of having a good time and out of a love for good music!
Many of those involved come from within the Dublin clubbing scene.

Sidetracked, represented by Haido and Jevan Neilan play indie, dancey disco and loungey house every Friday at the Chocolate Bar in the POD complex. Jevan has had quite the illustrious career as a dj having won FM 104′s dj of the year aswell as having supported Justice and famously forgetting that he was to play support to Vitalic!

Subject are represented by Lee Kelly and Niall Cleary. These boys have brought over some serious acts since their inception. It’s risky business booking major international acts, but with their focus on quality techno, house and disco Subject have prevailed as one of Dublin’s finest promoters. Give It Socks will be something of a send-off for Niall as he makes tracks to head to the UK to continue producing. We wish him well for the future!

Rob Maguire will be here representing Tenth Planet Music. Another bunch of selfless guys who work hard to big up local talent. Their popup events out in Smithfield filled a void in the city providing punters with a cheap night out without cutting back on the quality. It would be fair to say that they find inspiration in Techno.

Con Allen will be representing Color Tv djs, a collective who’ve found themselves in their first year out with TWO residencies in both the POD and the Twisted Pepper. Con is also a resident at the revamped Dark Horse Inn (formerly the White Horse Inn) .

GIS 2010 will also be a welcoming home for Dave Senan aka Senator, Dave was involved in 515 at the POD before moving over to Berlin. He has played support alongside acts such as James Zabiela, James Lavelle, Danny howells, Samin, Dave Clarke and Bookashade. Senator is producing Techno and House in Berlin and is on the radar of a number of domestic and foreign labels.

Johnny Holmes has been Djinng for the past 16 years winning three All Ireland Dj Competitions. Bud Thud 1999 (Galway) Movida Corona 2004 and Movida Corona 2008. Both Movida wins took Johnny to the European and World finals coming second on two occasions. Johnny has played Ministry of sound London, Pacha Ibiza and Mandara Acapulco to name but a few. A regular Dj at the Clarence Sligo has seen Johnny warm up up for Sebastian Leger Dj Falcon (Daft Punk Crew) and Joris Voorn.

Wayne Shorty, is a busy dj, a resident at London’s carry On Night@revolution he will be joining us fresh after playing the LED&back2space festival – occasionally in Dublin he’ll be spinning a few tunes for blueprint@crawdaddy on his next trip over.

Malcolm Funktion, signed to Acidphonic Records / Elliptic Records / Redbox Records has been producing, djing and promoting for the past 14 years. His style of electro techno tunes have caught the attention of djs and labels from across the globe. This will be an exciting gig for all involved as it’s been too long since Dublin has had the opportunity to hear Malcolm on the decks lashing out the tunes. Check out his recent release De Rasclat on Elliptic records.

Coming from Letterkenny and signed to Timmy + Tommy’s exciting Full Tilt Recordings Dane Doherty will be churning out Techno for us. This young talent has also attracted attention over seas having just got his track ”Arikaans” signed to Groundunder Recordings, Germany which also feature artists such as Christian Fischer and Martin Eigenberg also on the label. Fair play to you Dane, this lads got a future in the business!

Two Charming Men are two lovely lads from Kildare, possible one of the most exciting Irish duo’s since Hystero, these boys have been getting major accolades from around the world with their first remix of a remix of Lorcan Mak’s huge track ’4 The Love’ which has been getting spins from the man himself. The remix got picked up by blogs and dj’s worldwide. Two Charming Men have had their tracks supported and played by big names such as Kissy Sell Out, Edu-K, Foamo, Momma’s Boy, Malente, Lorcan Mak, Peace Treaty and Barletta. One of our favourite moments of the year was when they go a big shout out the boys’ mix of Disco Killah’s Ravage on BBC Radio 1.

Luasa is a electronic band from Waterford, Ireland. They use live instruments guitar keys vocals along with synth melodys and electric drums for percussion. There are three members involved and have progressed from a four piece band to a three piece ensemble of electric maddness, there live show is energetic lively and full of suprises that should not be missed at any time. This will be their debut in the capital and we are looking forward to them very much so!

Whisperjack aka Barry Farrell is one member of the electronica group The Arcs Of Triumph – Barry plays out frequently in the city having done sets recently for Halogen, Mr Jones and Pentagon.

Phillip Galvin Jnr is a regular on Dublin’s clubbing scene. He also hosts Phil’s Deep Sessions 10pm-12am Every Sunday on PlayFmDublin.

LLoyd Grogan and Brian O’Neill make up the delightfully named Ketamine Kids, the lads will be pushing their brand of hard-hitting tunes on the day with two sets and make for a nice addition to the line-up.

Cillo, Maverick Ross, Raphael Knox, Dave McDonagh, Ciaran Fitzpatrick and Sean Bryan are all sessoned sessioners, all producing great tacks and contributing regularl tunes and putting in the long hours all in the name of having a good time.

Fjjorde and KrisCuk are two of the festivals three organisers and really the whole festival is just an excuse to get some deck time! (joking!)

    Lorcan Mak
Lorcan has headlined in clubs all over Ireland in the US, UK, Thailand, Germany, Spain & France. His Debut EP was released last year on Anabatic Records. Followed by remixes for Kitsuné, Mixmash, Exploited, Young Gunz & Get Flavor to name a few. Lorcan has just finished a collaboration with German producer “Malente”, which will be released soon on “Southern Fried Records”.

Lorcan McDonnell AKA ‘Lorcan Mak’ was born in 1989 in Dublin, Ireland. He began Djing in 2002 and first took an interest in producing around the year 2004. His love for music began at an early age, experimenting with many musical instruments as a child. But in the end he chose the computer as his way to create music. Self thought in most industry standard DAW’s (Digital Audio Workstations), Lorcan is renowned for his super clean, Techno Fuelled, House productions and his sub crushing Dj sets.
When he first start Djing he played everything from Hip-Hop, Funk & Soul, Ska all the way through to Drum & Bass, House & Techno. His broad taste in music has been a key influence in his DJing and Productions. His first few tracks were lapped up all over the world by top blogs & Dj’s. Big names like Laidback Luke, Sinden, Shir Khan, Foamo, Detboi, Japanese Popstars,Tom Stephan, NT89, Toxic Aveneger, Mowgli, Noob, Worthy, and Brodinski who placed two of Lorcan Mak’s Original tracks as both his April 09 & Sep 09 No.1’s, can all be considered fans of his work!
So far this year Lorcan has already played to crowds exceeding 15000 as one of the headlining acts at the XBOX Live stage at Ireland’s “Oxegen Festival” in July, along with headline gigs all over Ireland in the UK & France. He has just finished remixing Crystal Fighters latest single “I Love London” for Kitsuné and His Debut EP will be released soon on Anabatic Records.
