Setting up bill payment with AIB online

    Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I found a similar thread from 2003 here.

    Just wondering, when setting up bills in 24 hour banking (in this case ESB, Eircom and Meteor) you're asked for a Bill Reference number. Now what in the name of Jaysis is that?

    I've tried my accounts numbers, invoice numbers and nothing. Any ideas?

    these are paper bills btw.

    I know this is an old thread, but I've just had such a hassle setting up AIB 24 online banking to pay Meteor that I thought I should post here so others would not be as tormented as me.

    To get the bill reference number you should contact the company in question.
    In the case of Meteor the front-line staff are absolutely useless, I had to call them back 3 times and they still gave me out misinformation. I had to call Credit Control to get someone with a brain (01 4307056 as of this date). If you want to jam some numbers in and hope for the best (if it's wrong it wont be processed) try your account number with the first 2 letters removed (i.e. 10 digits) failing that it could also be your phone number (10 digits also).
