Hi, been on JA for 12 months, lived in wicklow but recently found a cheap room in town. went to local office (bishops square) and sorted address change no problem.,..

i get a letter saying all fine and to sign on at x date and address was transferred fine

then i get another letter today from the inspector requesting meeting & requiring the following ......

    *GNIB Card
    *landlords PRTB Number
    *landlords contact details
    *lease agreement
*all bank + c union statement for last 3 months
my question is what is GNIB / PRTB and why do i have to give landlords details? (he never asked what i do and id prefer not to tell him im unemployed in case he thinks i cant pay rent and evicts me or doesnt renew lease)

why do i have to give credit union / bank statement details?

    any advice appreciated :)

GNIB is "Garda National Immigration Bureau", so they think you are a non-EU person from a country that requires a visa to visit Ireland.

All landlords must register with PRTB, and if you want rent allowance, this is important that your land lord is register.

I assume the bank statements is for a means test.

thanks for the advice, appreciate it :)

im not looking for rent allowance as i only have a 6 mnth lease and you need to be in fixed location for 6 months before you can apply for rent allowance afaik.....

my landlord could flip if i say i want all these details from him over an issue that has nothing to do with him.....

they are most likely doing a review of your claim.in fairness they aren't looking for anything major, you should have a lease agree and landlords details anyway i know i wouldnt be living in rented accomadation without both.by law your landlord has to be registered.
