Maybe it's the voyeur in me but I enjoy reading about how the Irish runners etc are getting on and I like to hear a bit about their training etc. I do love a good sporting autobiography too.

I've recently started reading Derval O'Rourke's blog and have been dipping in and out of David Gillick's too. I wouldn't mind seeing one from a top distance runner (domestic/international) but when I stick 'marathon blog' etc into Google I find that I get a lot of amateur blogs which, excuse my snobbery, just don't interest me.

Can anybody recommend some good distance blogs?

Find Thomas Chamney's one of the best in terms of irish ones. Few of the americans have pretty good ones to if you interested

Would you believe I just had a look at his website to find this:
"After documenting his training and racing since October 2007, Thomas Chamney has taken the decision to end his long-running and popular blog. Charting his progress from also-ran to Olympian, Thomas sought to enlighten and entertain but after 3 years the blog will cease."

Bad luck. I'll read back through it.

Happy to look at the yank blogs too.

Perdita Felician has a blog on blogspot.

Why is Thomas shutting down his blog?

I follow the irish triathleats on www.bryankeane.com/triathlete/ and http://gavinnoble.com/ and http://blog.aileenmorrison.com/ all very enjoyable reads. Be interested to see some good dist runners blogs though.

Why is Thomas shutting down his blog?

This is the rest of his statement posted on the 20th:
"Speaking of his decision Thomas said, ‘I’m delighted to have had the chance to share the ups and downs with people and hopefully given some insights into professional athletics. The time has come for me to move onto other projects. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who followed along and wish them all the best in the future.’

Thomas is currently enjoying a long break away from the sport and aims to return in 2011 with full force."

    Maybe we'll get more.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm guessing that I'll have a very unproductive day in work tomorrow. Plenty of reading building.
