just a pet hate of mine at the moment, you pull in to a petrol station and someone has parked their car in situ of two - three slots, I always just pull up beside whatever one is closest but have had words exchanged a couple of times about "skipping" LOL

Is this a new thing on each occasion there was only one car "queuing" and each time there was a tosser who got laughed out of the place for trying to argue with me over skipping his one car queue system.

I find a mixture of common courtesy and common sense works best for me, although i'd be hard pushed to describe exactly how I implement it.

I find driving behind the closest pump suits best. Lining cars in a queue out onto the public road is Nonsense. Anyone who thinks otherwise - You sir /madam are an idiot ;)

Depends on the forecourt...on my nearest one (with a huge turning area/car wash) at busy times there are 4 spots (there'd be 8 if they were used properly  ) and I'll usually line myself up for two and take whichever one comes up first...I work on the first come first served rule, like most queing systems...if someone tried to jump it in some way I'll edge in and block them. No arguments yet but can't be long.

Was at a forecourt on Malahide rd the other day and even getting into one of the pumps was challenging...although not as challenging as getting back out once I'd finished since I was blocked on all sides by people filling up/empty cars/ cars waiting and had to wait until the girl in front had finished buying her brekafast...

Imagine this - a queue of cars is waiting, and the first car in the queue stops at the first pump. There's no room for anyone to get around them. Would you go around the station and reverse into the second, vacant, slot?

Yip I sure would. And ask teh first car why they didn't drive to the second pump.
No - If I was 3 or 4 cars back. Then I would just go somewhere else.

If a petrol station is ever full I don't pull in, I just go elsewhere :)

I'm aware that other people don't have that luxury though. I have a number of times pulled into a station where one person is queueing at a particular pump but there's a free slot somewhere else, in which case I always go around them to the free pump.

I also love people who think that you need to pull up to a pump that's on the same side as your tank; leaves more pumps free for me.

Some people genuinely need to do that and not because of the size of their car!

Yeah but the vast majority just do it cause their fuel cap is on that side, I don't think they realise the pump reel will actually reach across most cars !

In my opinion the onus in on the car at the head of the queue to pick the pumps they think is next available and pull behind the current user, you win some you lose some.

Saying that I've seen some people sit in their car at the pumps with a queue all around them and someone right behind them, and proceed to eat their entire sandwich, coffee, crisps etc at their leisure and not give a toss about anyone else. and if they get approached/beeped etc its abuse and two fingers in everyones direction. Some people are just d!cks.

I'd definitely double-bag on any ol doll you'd pick up at a petrol station...
