hi guys, just wondering if any one could give me advice as I am terrible with any technology:rolleyes:

a friend of myne has an apple 80gig ipod and I would like to transfer the music from his ipod onto 2 apple ipods that i have.i wouldnt know where to even start so a chap has kindly offered to do this for me.....

    I have two questions-

1.) Is it ok to do this even though its going to be on a different computer that his music was transferred from? i have heard that if u plug them into different computer that everything gets deleted:confused:

2.)What are the chances of all the music being wiped off my freinds ipod and 'disapearing for ever'??

if any1 thinks its risky id rather not try anything at all

    thanks for any advise

    thanks bigfeller for the link.

i dont even know how to download music but im sure my buddy can use this site so thanks for that:)

Do you think It would be safe enough to do without the music being wiped?

if it was risky id rather leave it altogether

no rick at all, just download sharepod and install it. when ya have it running connect the ipod with the music on it and D/L the music to whatever folder ya want, then just connect the other ones and upload the music

be careful though, if ya have music on an ipod and connect it to itunes and sync, it will wipe the music that isnt already in itunes

thanks for advice.i havnt got a clue about i tunes and sync.... theres 10,000 songs on the ipod so i wud hate to wipe them, they're not even backed up on any laptop so they'd be lost for good.....

was wondering if it would be possible to bring it some where to get it done,id be willing to pay if it ment cutting out any risk of it being wiped.

would you know of any where that could do that??

    1. Download Sharepod.
    2. Connect ipod to computer
    3. Run Sharepod
    4. Press "Copy To Computer"
    5. Choose Music Folder
    6. Choose layout for folders (My personal favourite is "Artist - Album")
    7. Decide how you want to copy the tracks to the other ipods. If you want to use itunes make sure that the "import tracks into itunes" is ticked. If not don't bother and just use Sharepod to copy it back up ("Copy to ipod")
    8. Click Ok
    9. Wait. It'll take a while.
    10. ???
    11. Profit

Just bear in mind that if you use Sharepod to copy it back up and at some point in the future sync with itunes it'll wipe the songs. Probably.
