Internet Explorer Repair Query

    Hello
I have a slight problem regarding my IE8. My operating system is Windows Vista. My laptop was attacked by a trojan agents last Friday and they were detected by AVG 9.0. The trojans are now sitting in the Virus Vault.
After the antivirus check I want to access the internet. I was able to get to the homepage but whenever I want to access to a site via Google I was directed to a random site. This had happened a few times and I haven't touched IE8 since! I am now typing from my college computer.

I have a few queries regarding on how to fix this problem:

    1) Will resetting IE to its default settings solve the problem?

    2) Is it necessary for me to download Malware detection software? ( I have run Windows Defender together with AVG and both stated that my laptop is uninfected and is running normally)

I need answers urgently as I need the laptop for my college work. Any helpful suggestions will be most welcome!
