Its pretty similar to most Lev 8 degrees.I found it tough and am currently going into 3rd yr(if i pass my 2repeats).You have only one module which is examined fully in jan(marketing),all other (6 or 7 it think) modules have an exam or project worth 10-30% in january and the may exam usually is worth 60-70 %.So first sem isnt that majorally NB.

Hours are v short i think 12 or 13 hours lectures over 5 days and 3-4 hours tutorials which are optional.Tough modules would be quantitative methods , accounting and Organisitional Behaviour for some people.Other modules include economics, communications(lots of class work and CA),irish politics and pc environment.

Just finished the course and to be honest I found first and second year quite easy. As nu-g says, accounting and particularly quants take a bit of work.
However, being a first time first year I missed loads of college, and still passed with flying colours (and no matter what O Grady tells you it doesnt matter a jot how you do in first and second year with regards how you do overall!)

If you take it seriously and do a bit of homework and go to tutorials, all of which I didnt do it should be easy to pass the year.
Just one thing, go to lectures, take notes and pay attention. This is really valuable when it comes to revising. If you go to all your lectures and do you CA should be grand.

Also I would advise that you dont buy books, or selectively buy them. Get into the library on the first day and get em all, and then be smart with renewing. No need to go spending 300 quid, although think the ACC one makes you buy her book, conveniently written by her
