Would you "rent" an episode of a TV programme for 1 Euro?

According to Wired, Apple is in talks with the TV studios to provide episodes of programmes on the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch for $1 a go, for 48 hours.

Would you pay 1 Euro to watch tv shows that you missed on the train/bus the next morning? (assuming it is 1 Euro over this side of the pond)

Is this an exciting innovation, or yet another way to squeeze money out of people for Apple?

I don't commute to work on the train any more, but I think I would have paid 1 Euro to watch a show while travelling.

I don't travel by public transport anymore, but when I did I would travel up to an hour each way by Bus/Dart

I did download a lot of TV show that the OH wouldn't watch such as stargate/rescue me etc and yes it made the trip much more enjoyable and seemed to go by much quicker!

Would I pay 99cent per tv show? probabaly not (taking illegal downloading out of it)

That would really start to add up
1.98 a day (assuming you buy 1 tv show per journey for each day of work)
    1.98 * 5 is 9.90 per week

now other people will have different commute times that was just my scenario!

be interested in hearing other peoples views though

    maybe set up a poll?

    Yes.
I would not be renting two a day, but I would definately use it in a catch-up-if you-missed-it scenario.
I happen to think its a fantastic idea.

No way. I do my catch up on BBC iPlayer, 4od and ITV Player amongst others, no way would I pay a cent for a catch-up. :)

It's a great idea and could be a real money-spinner but its not for me. I used to do a 1h 15 min commute by train (each way) but I read books on the train. Wouldn't see that changing if I was back on the trains.

    No
    I would.

I might on occasion but it wouldn't be a preference. As mentioned above, those 99c will add up!

I'd sooner pay a subscription to something like hulu and/or iPlayer. Similar to what's currently happening in music (Spotify / GrooveShark).

I think the two could work well in tandum though. I might not subscribe to watch programming from ITV but there may be the occasional programme I'd throw a euro down for.

also.. I'm not really thinking of commute or watch-on-the-go. Majority of my television viewing is already done online (MacBook hooked to the telly, RTE Player, 4OD, US vpn into Hulu, downloads, etc.). I'd love to get rid of NTL subscription altogether.

I would, but I probably wouldn't use this service exclusively.

I wouldn't... Too many places online to get them for nothing. YouTube has been great for me regards tv shows. Why pay for something you can get for nothing

No, I timeshift them on my Mac at home and then watch at my leisure on my iPad using either AirVideo or EyeTV.

No, I would download it for zero euro.

Oh, I wouldn't pay anything if I was restricted to watching it on those devices (or any other specific device -- I do realise what forum I'm in ;)).

    No way.

Do what 4od does and use ads to make their money.

Ridiculous to pay for it imo, surely there advertising revenue would pay for the service if they chose that route.

I would much prefer a subscription based service. There was talk that Apple were negotiating with the Studios for a subscription service but they wouldn't agree to it, in fear it would effect the Cable providers too much.

But I would rent TV Shows now and again. But would only use my US Account. Even if Apple added TV Shows to the Irish iTunes, it still wouldn't top the US iTunes Store.

Cult Of Mac are reporting that it will infact be a $1 to rent a full show per month. This would be much to good to be true and don't believe it, but I would definitely pay $1/€1 to rent a show a month.

this would do nothing for me

I'd pay €1 to watch a film but not a TV show. I'd feel i was getting value for money if i could get from Dublin to Galway out of it.

Would be much easier than compressing a movie from the mac to put it onto the iPhone.

Get a sling box and watch them for free from your sky plus box.
