    I havent been there in a few years but I love the place. I used to go camping there every summer with my family and we did 6/7 years summers in a row. Usually stayed for 2/3 weeks each time. I fished, wind surfed. It was class !

    My mum was telling me recently that friends of her's have gone down there this summer for a week and its still a great spot.

    I just googled best campsite in cork & this place seems to be the most popular search find so it can't be too bad!:D

    Well i stayed there on friday into saturday morning. Heres my opinion of the place;

    Good from the outset as it was easy to find. Its only about 3 miles up the road from Bantry, near a little micro-town called ballylickey. You can't miss it.
    The campsite is clean, friendly staff & very well laid out. The entire site is terraced so everyone gets a nice view. Plenty of facilites such as toilets, showers, tv rooms & a separate enclosed section to dispose of rubbish.

    The views from the very far end of the campsite (the tent area) are spectacular. The Beara pininnsula on the right stretches as far as the eye can see. Makes for an amazing background while cooking up a few sausages on the gas stove thats for sure.

    One or two negatives. Its 20 euros for one person + tent per night!?. Now on the website it says 2 people + tent is 28 euros so i thought it would be about half of 28 for one person? Maybe 14/15 euros.
    Theres an electronic gate that is the only way in & out if you have a car. When you pay the entrance fee you get a code which raises the gate for entry or exit. Yes its for security purposes but its also there to enforce their leave before midday policy. Not a problem it your out before 12, but a few minutes later than this & you have to pay an extra fee to get out. Thats a little mean spirited IMO.

    Anyway to sum up Eagle Point camping. Its an excellent campsite in a beautiful location with incredible views. But its not cheap. Still i would highly recommend it.

    Actually i mean't one man plus a tent as opposed to a one man tent.:D

    But you are right its way too expensive & i very nearly drove off when i was told the price (should have phoned first!:rolleyes:) but when i went in & took a look around & seen the amazing views i had to stay. Just for the one night.

    60 euros for 3 nights stay at a campsite is a disgrace no matter how nice it is & the sort of highway robbery you only get in good old rip off Ireland. Its no wonder tourism in this country is on its knees with these silly prices.

    no it's to expensive no matter how good the views are ,wild camp in the field next to it, seriously they should have special rates for cycle tourers we dont take up much room at these campsites and we probably spend more money there than people in there hugh mobile homes do,as in few pints and maybe a good meal.:rolleyes:
