    Hi All,

A friend of mine is looking is looking for a new car. He's 6 foot 2. Has a bad back and knee problems. hes looking for something with a high driving position so he can get in and out of it easily. He's been looking at Qashqais and the Skoda Yeti. He also mentioned the Ford Kuga They seem to be fairly expensive and large for the type of driving he does. A little run around would do him in normal circumstances.

    Anyone any other suggestions?

have the same problem myself and have tried a lot of cars/suv's at this stage. i have found the santa fe or kia sorrento to be the most suitable. the yeti and quashqai have very little head room or leg room so i wouldn't go near them. tried a subaru forester lately and thought it was very comfortable. you are going to find it hard to get a "run around" with the type of room you are looking for so i would recommend a suv of some sort. thats what i am leaning towards anyway. what you need to make sure is that the leg position in relation to the back position is at least 90 degrees to avoid pain and discomfort in the back.

Would have to agree with the kia sorento, have one and the seats (if leather at least) seem to be also fairly hard (good for back) and i tend not to sink into them. Had a back problem last year and just recovered enough to go on a driving holiday in france just after the back problem. I drove 3000kms and i felt better getting out of the car than i went in!
she's a big girl though and drives more like a jeep than suv as its a ladder chasis.

A ford Fusion might be worth a look. It would probably be a lot cheaper than the other models mentioned. I'm 6' and have plenty of space for driving, though a passenger behind me might be a bit cramped. I'd say the seats are only a couple of inches higher than most normal cars but it might be enough. It's basically a Fiesta that's a bit bigger and higher so if it's comfortable for him it might do the job.

Actually another good one is a kia sportage, i had it before the sorento and its seating position is excellent maybe even better than sorento. Going at good prices secondhand around now.

Mercedes A-class might be worth a look; also available as a long wheel-base (LWB).

Audi A2 is also small & tall.
