Apparently there are more HD channels being added in November. Im not sure what they will be yet. Personally I wont be holding my breath; UPC have been downright lying about things like this since I joined them 6 months ago. When I signed up first the agent swore blind they would have Sky Sports and interactive by the start of the PL league season; it was pretty much the only reason I agreed to go with them.

No chance of getting any Sky HD channels at the moment - and definately no chance of Sky Sports HD been made available.
Now that Sky own living , Sky may also prevent Lving HD becoming available.

Comedy Central & MTV HD are owned by Viacom and there is also CNN HD,FTV HD which may become available.

After that it all depends on Sky - and their marketing campaign is based on exclusivity of Sports HD

Living HD isn't even on Sky.

their marketing campaign is based on the fact that all the sports HD channels are on Sky, nothing about exclusivity as Sky Sports HD 1 & 2 are now available on Virgin. If they're available on Virgin I see no reason why UPC can't come to some agreement with them.

"The only place to get all 5 Sky Sports HD channels" is the tag line - can't get much more exclusive then that!

Sky Sports 1 & 2 only on Virgin after ofcom/legal intervention and Virgin selling its channels to Sky.

It is expected that Sky will be in no hurry to make its HD channels available to UPC - which in turn puts a question mark over UPC claim that they have all the channels Sky have.

The ofcom intervention was over the availability of the SD versions at lower prices nothing to do with the HD channels as far as I'm aware.

Even with Sky Sports HD 1 and 2 on Virgin, Sky is still the only place to get all 5 Sky Sports HD channels.

Sky were forced to provide them by the regulators in the UK. Sky don't answer to any regulators in this country.

That's my understanding aswell. The HD channels on Virgin came about as part of the agreement in sky's buyout of the Virgin Media channels (Living, Bravo, Virgin1 etc.)

Either way, Ofcom has no regulatory control here. All you could hope for is that what happens in the UK will set a sort of precedent for what happens during negotiations here.

For the craic why not ring up UPC and ask them? Id love to hear what their new line is on the HD channels; if they are still coming out with the "well add more HD channels in November" line or if theyve ditched that.
