    Hi guys,

What is the best EPG on a satellite and is there any available that are customizable. Reason I ask is that I really hate the unusability of most EPG's...

    Thanks

Freesat or Sat4free branded boxes. Full program guide, no need to manually scan.

The basic FTA boxes are all terrible and painful. You get all the rubbish added back in when you re-scan because you have lost a channel and there is no 7 day program guide, only now/next.

Even Sky lets you define up to 50 favorites and cycle through only them when channel flicking and see just the favourites on 7 day guide. Easy to setup, though needs a card.

No card needed for favorites, just the channel flicking part when using an old sky box this way for FTA channels.

My Skybox won't allow defining or use of Favorites without a card.

My old Pace box will. I don't know if it's down to the manufacturer or different firmware perhaps?

I'm using a Sky+ box without a subscription, with my card removed so I get the English EPG (in order to view the BBC 3, ITV 2, etc. listings). I've just noticed that the listings for Channel 5 are no longer showing. You were never able to watch the channel on 105 (you had to go into the 'Other Channels') but you still used to have the listings..

Sky box doesn't allow you to add any of the so-called "Other Channels" to their Favourites, though - very annoying.

I used to love the old TIVO epg used on the original Thomson predessor to the SKY+ BOX..

The EPG on Windows Media Centre meets all my needs. Stick a DVB-T and DVB-S combo card in your PC and you can roll your own EPG with all the Free terrestrial and satellite channels sorted by your preference and updated over the Web.
