    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has an insignia. What are they like?

Thinking about getting it as my next car but want to get an opinion on them before I do.

Also anyone any thoughts on buying in the UK? Looking around but there are better models in the UK and work alot cheaper even allowing for the VRT.

    Thanks

Just bear in mind your UK Opel is a Vauxhaul, and as such will be much harder to sell second hand and near impossible to trade in. Silly really as the only thing that is different is a few badges.

The Insignia (in my opinion) is the current best in class, and fantastic value for money. Good Diesel engines, excellent specification, comfort and price. Pretty decent handling as well - not quite a Mondeo but not far off. Replacment tyres can be expensive for the SE/Elite/SRi due to the size of them.

There were some reliability issues on earlier models, but the newer ecoFLEX models don't seem to have given any issues.

Are you comparing retail prices in Ireland with the cost of a Vauxhall? There should be a good deal to be negotiated in Ireland on an Insignia.

I've heard they have been patchy regarding reliability as ROR says but most likely they have improved with age.

Don't forget they were designed, built and launched as GM were on their knees financially so that most likely will of had an impact on the early ones at least in terms of quality.

However I wouldn't rule out a later model thats well specced.

They are a rep car so check mileage and condition carefully
