Hi lads, I'm after getting a 01 IS200 sport with a built in sat nav. The sat nav isn't working and the stereo has being changed to an after Market one. My question is, are the 2 connected, Do I need the lexus stereo for the sat to work, Or could it be another problem? Any help is great help lads.
    Thanks.

Are you sure it actually has the sat nav cd/dvd? I'm not sure about the IS200 but I have an RX300 and they have a separate sat nav device/player in the boot - on some of the other models there's no separate device and the sat nav disk is the first disk in the multi changer. Mine didn't come with sat nav but still has a sat nav button on the stereo/console.

The Lexus system of that era has 4 separate components.

    1. The head-end is the "brain" of the system and includes the radio/tape system etc. No amplification.
    2. The amplifier is hidden in the dash, this takes a 2-channel audio signal plus a digital control from the head-end and this sorts out the fader/bass/treble etc.
    3. Multi CD player (self explanatory)
    4. Sat-Nav HDD

All 4 must be connected correctly

    Thanks lads.
As I said the stereo was changed so maybe the amp was taken out aswell. The sat nav box is in the boot so I have to keep an eye out for a head unit. Will any head unit from a IS200 do or would I have to get one for a sat nav system.

any head unit should do but the satnav firmware needs to be on it , if you find one from an 04 is200 they all had satnav enabled,

keep in mind you will need map disks, so finding one out of a crashed 04 is200 with the disks is your best option
