FaceTime activation

Lads I'm looking to activate FaceTime on iPhone 4 4.0.1 jailbroke and unlocked jailbreakme.com

Now in order to do this will I have to put in the original vf sim back into the iPhone reconnect to iTunes download the carrier settings loose the jailbreak?

Or can I manually enter in the apn etc without connecting back to iTunes. So I don't have to restore the phone and going onto 4.0.2.cheers

You need to make sure your phone has signal when turning it on for the very first time.

Or, turn it on and off again making sure it has signal when turning back on. This cures the classic "waiting for activation" facetime error message.

Ok I put vf sim back into iPhone connected to iTunes it's not giving me the option to download carrier setting just new update 4.0.2 is available so I'm not updating! any ideas?

i dont think it asks ya to download the carrier settings every time ya put in a diff sim, go to settings>general>about and scroll down to carrier to check what carrier file its usng

Yea your right when I turned on the phone with vf sim in it, said carrier settings are available would you like to update said yes and nothing happened under setting carrier 7.0

When I go to settings about I get this press update nothing happened

ya have a meteor sim in and apple dont support meteor, i'd say thats ur problem, if ya havent done already, check the new sticky about installing the meteor carrier file and see of tha makes a difference

actually search facetime on cydia, i'm nearly sure there is an app/hack to fix ur problem

No I took that screen shot after I emailed the picture to my iPhone that's my network on the top of the photo. I have a vodafone micro sim in it. Tried cydia no joy it works fine with my iPhone 4 but not my wifes

I have the same problem too, as if yet no FaceTime fix on meteor jailbroken 4.0.1 installed the iphonedelivery fix and bunch of others still no solution. I have a hunch it could to with activation from a forwarded number I.e the I have a 087 on the meteor network is different from the origins sim number and causing a problem

Don't think so James my iPhone 4 FaceTime is working perfect on meteor can call my mates. It's just I can't get my wifes to activate with the original sim vf. It will not update the carrier setting for some strange reason. Has anyone else on boards got FaceTime working on meteor can they write up what they did to get this working.

Hi Fox, what's your carrier version on both iphones? Which one's working for facetime? Im interested to try your setting. Thanks.

7.0 on meteor and 7.2 on the one activated by vf sim and now with meteor. When I connect the 7.0 to iTunes it will not ask me to accept new carrier setting no matter what! That's how I got the other phone to work

Fox do ya remember hitting make my life Easier in cydia. To check just open cydia and it should say this device has shsh on file for xxxx firmware. If 4.0.1 is there go to iclarified.com and download 4.0.1 for iPhone 4 and look for a tutorial on how to downgrade to 4.0.1

After restoring that way it should prompt iTunes to install the carrier file. What ever ya do don't just hit restore

it should work, anytime i restored the 3gs i had, it prompted me to install the carrier file

Hye guys,
Having same prob with Facetime using meteor. Cant seem to get it working. Jailbroken and unlocked, used to be on vf, updated carrier and all but still not working with meteor. All I get is "facetime failed" everytime...

Bit off track, but I know I have seen it mentioned a while ago. There is a 25c charge when I switch on Facetime. is this every time it is switched on or used?

its an activation text to start facetime, o2 are aware of it and refunding all customers

A guy in 3 Tech support told me its a once off fee for activation.......Which probably means its t be charged every time facetime is used.....:o
