I feel fairly sure that there are a few of you on this forum that know quite a bit more than I about the area of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I work with children and adolescents and want suggestions for readings. It's a bit daunting to know where to start but an interest in attachment theory and family therapy has me keen to know more about it. I gather Melanie Klein is good but is that the place to start or should I begin the assault on my ignorence in some other way?

Also does anyone know anything about Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (M.Sc.) in Trinity?

    Thanks

    A Shining Affliction - Annie G Rogers

This is not an academic book, nor is it solely about child psychoanalysis, but it might give you some insights about that, along with the subject of psychotherapy, and the process in general. It's probably an easier read to start off with than Klein anyway! :)

I'm sure there will be plenty of more educated answers regarding the course, and psychoanalysis in general.

It's a while since I studied her stuff, but IIRC Hanna Segal has written some good introductions to her work. If you are going down that road, I would suggest you have a look at D W Winnicot as well.
