Just wondered, is there anything along the same lines of Dragons den?

People with money ranging from a couple of grand.

Maybe others would like seeing ideas with a good couple of thousand.

Is there anything here letting normal wannabe investors the chance to look into potential investments? Any knowledge appreciated.

You mean angel investors, or venture capitalists?

What are looking to invest in?

Are you looking for equity in a business or are you looking to finance a business and make a quick return?

It will probably depend on how much you are willing to invest and for how long you are willing to wait for a return in your investment.

I'd like to see a business idea needing a backing. It'd be nice to not pre judge a time span looking for a return depending on the plan. Ideally short term income from project with a long term plan/goal.

You can post ideas here and its emailed to potential investors that have indicated they would consider investing in a buisness idea in your field.

I think you might be better changing your mindset on what you want out of your investment. Usually if your going to back a startup company you need to forget about the short term income part.
I would sit yourself down for a day and write a long list of criteria of what you would like to be presented with and what kind of thing your interested in investing in. Then declare your budget available and I reckon here alone you would have a dozen ideas in your inbox in a couple of days.

I suggest that what might work is an old fashioned angels set-up. Angels are usually associated with investing in plays. The investor is risking loosing all the money invested, but are willing to take on that risk because they will get someting out of it. They will be involved in the play. They will get invited to meet the actors and celebrities etc. so even if the play is a flop and all the money is lost, they for a short time will be part of show business.

Sponsorship I suppose works like that but the money is paid and that is that. The sponsor gets more than advertising, he/she gets treated as part of the event and treated as such.

Dragons Den on the TV is a TV programme so there is more going on than just business people investing in people and their ideas. The Dragons are playing to the audience to a certain extent as well as keeping in mind what the people who are making the programme want.
