    What do you call Potatoes?

I someone will make the obvious answer or "potatoes" but this is to settle something with a friend who has never experienced any languages other than those in her native land. Which is really a garbled mix of Cant and english.

I refer to them as poppies every now and then, due to them being called that when I was young! What do you call them?

Also state if you have heard of them referred to as Poppies, just to prove she is uncultured! :D

I call the potatoes funnily enough.
    Oh yeah or spuds!

Never heard of them referred to as poppies.

And the only way i've heard of them as taters is the American thing of tater tots(which i'm not exactly sure what they are but know they are potato based!)

Poppies are a drug. Potatoes are our staple food (in Leitrim I imagine). Actually potato flowers are similar to nightshade, and just as deadly.

Tater tots are like potato croquets, breaded mashed potato.

We had a poppie house that was dark with no windows for the spuds so they wouldn't start sprouting. The memories, the bad ones of having to bend over in a field for the day routing for spuds.
