    Hi to All.

Did anyone ever buy a motor from these guys? I might go and view some of their cars, but I'm travelling from Co. Tipp. Just want to know if it would be worth it.

Does anyone have any experience of buying from this dealership?

    Thanks

A word of warning: Ballymount is the Bermuda Triangle of Dublin car dealers. Not all of them are genuine and plenty of them operate out of portakabins. Caveat emptor.

Thanks Confab, so tread very carefully or stay away? Anyone else out there with direct dealings? Here is a link to one of the cars that I was going to view.

The interior looks a little shabby for 62k miles.

The seats and steering wheel look worn also it appears that a phone kit was drilled into the dash where the passenger airbag is.

I'd imagine its an ex rep car, its a bit small to of been a taxi.

God bless your eyesight Johnos, well spotted, she still looks a lot better than some of the piles of sh1te that I've gone to look at over the past few weeks,

2 first choices are the Octavia Elegance Model 05/06 1.9 -2.0 Tdi

or Volvo S40 New Model 05 / 06 2.0D, preferably with leather seats but not essential.

I've trawled all the websites for the right car, and good mileage, but they are very hard to come by....Top Budget is 8.5k, would stretch to 9k for the right car,

    Thanks for the advice.

Its hard to find a good car at the minute but they are out there. I'd steer clear of this one though as I imagine it would be another wasted trip form Tipp

An excellent choice, although plainer than an S40 it is FAR bigger in every way and I would imagine it will prove easier to sell come the time

I've driven them but I'm not convinced. The Focus it's based on does it all for a lot less money and trouble

That budget gives you loads of scope but could I recommend a private seller, just be aware of when consumables (t/belt etc.) has to be done. Lots of cars from garages at that price but I'm unconvinced of how honest some of them are (its the price that cars are selling most at hence there is a lot of scope for dirty tricks by dishonest dealers: thats just my opinion)

Yep, agee totally with everything you say johnos...Focus would be a great choice also but I just sold mine ('01 petrol)and just fancied something different,

I thought it was a buyers market out there - but the very Good Diesel Cars around my price bracket seem to be getting snapped up

Private sales yes, have looked at 4 or 5 already. Can you recommend one in particular:D

I wouldn't rule out the passat either but have already ruled out the Mondeo + Avensis

I need a car quick so might have to get something older to tide me over, but I didn't want to take that option:confused:

I'm looking to buy as well but I'm not in a hurry which is the best way to be. And to answer a second question if I could recommend one I would already be driving it :D

Where in Tipp are you? Give a few details such as budget etc and what you want. I know of a good 07 Mondeo TDCI Zetec with 122k Kilometres, auto box and LOTS of extras for 14k from a respected dealer. He also has a 03 Audi A4 TDI with 122k miles for 8k. The dealer is also happy to bargain for a straight deal. For anyone who wants to know its Donal Ryan in Nenagh and I have no association with the garage other than looking for something for myself last week.

EDIT: The Mondeo isn't on the website but from driving passed this evening its still for sale

Fair enough thanks, I'll check out Donal Ryan's stock...

I'm on the Limerick / Tipp border near Tipp Town,

    Budget = 9k

Diesel Superb / Octavia Elegance Yes
    Volvo s40 Diesel '05 Onwards - Yes
    Passat Diesel - Yes

    Mondeo / Avensis - No

Call Donal Ryans as they have more cars than are listed on the website. They are very eager for business and are pricing accordingly if you have no trade in. In fact its the only garage I've been in for a while that i would say is 'busy' relatively speaking!

I looked at an S60 t5 from these guys, car was clocked and they gave me bull**** about waiting on the SH to turn up and if I bought it they'd post it on to me.

Ah well I think that settles it, they won't be seeing me, thanks guys

I'd stay clear of any dealer in Ballymount to be honest.

    opinions on this S6?

Seats look very worn for 68k miles

    this always puts me off:
VERY POWERFULL CAR WIT LOW MILES

Still, it's an Irish car so at least some of the history should be traceable.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,056 ✭✭✭Tragedy

Even the back seats are in a bad state, so I'm not sure if that's an indication of wear - or just not looked after at all.

Phone them and ask if they have the service history on hand, if they say they're waiting on it - cross the car off your list.

Unfortunately I have had experience with these guys and suggest you avoid them at all costs. Even if they are giving the car away it won't be worth it.
