Why Is Everyone Jealous Of Dublin?

Earlier this week, the Peoples Republic of Cork website posted a hate campaign aimed at Dublin's population and by extension, their GAA team. In preparation for the upcoming game, I feel they used this opporunistic time to post a piece linking Prince William as a Dublin fan and saying Dublin people, in general, don't know whether they're British or Irish.

    Here is the link: http://www.peoplesrepublicofcork.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1017

I'm at a loss for words why anyone would take valuable time out of their day to write such bogus and mindless drivel. Surely, this isn't the majorities opinion of The Pale...Dublin has no problem with other counties, how is that so hard to understand?

And that point about Dublin sports....surely a little bit of life in from the crowd is no harm, given I watched other counties and they sit there like it was a funeral...

But no, actually getting involved in the game and cheering and chanting is soooooooooooo "British".

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,183 ✭✭✭storm2811

    Jealous?no.
Just pissed because the whole country seems to revolve/depend on Dublin.

I once received a reply that it was because Dublin received the most funding for infrastructure, education, health etc....

But we're the capital of this country...there are more people in the neighborhood of Finglas than in Cork...

Surely, you guys can come up and get your education here? We won't bite...

Most Cork people don't hate Dublin. The ones that do are generally the ones that shag their cousins and touch donkeys on their way home from the community centre at night. The type that are members of thepeoplesreuplicofcork.

I don't have a problem with Dublin, it's a nice enough place and has been well done up over the past number of years.

What I find very funny is when people from Dublin go on about being a city person, 'the big smoke', 'those people from down the country', 'culchies' bla bla bla.

What is the population of dublin? 1-1.5million? Have you been to seoul, Tokyo, Beijing, London, Paris etc etc?? Those are cities, we don't really have proper big cities like those in Ireland. Areas around where I live in Korea have twice/three times the population of Dublin with better facilities and they are known as countryside town / small cities / the sticks / the boonies and things like that.

I haven't been to cork and not properly to Limerick, but out of the cities I have been to in Ireland, my favourite is Galway. It's just got a nice vibe to it.

No-one is jealous of Dublin. We do not like Dublin.
When are Dubs going to get that?

No chip on shoulder, no minority complex, no jealousy.

Your sense of superiorority is the reason people outside dublin arent to keen on ye.

The powers that be would love to just spend the countries tax money on dublin Luas lines and Junkies taxi fare, Rte limos and all the other crap the other 25 counties generally dont have.

I imagine most dubs think that outside of the M50 is just all baren land, cave men spearing fish and skinning bears.

You ask, why is everyone jealous of dublin.

Well..there is only one proper answer and that is:

You're so vain you probably think this song is about you

Dublin is the least-worst. city in this country,....*

We don't have any proper cities in this country, even Dublin is a sleepy little backwater, and is barely interesting enough to stop me from going round the twist.

If i had to move to anywhere smaller, even somewhere as 'near' as Navan, it would do my *expletive deleted* nut in.

What's your beef with the Luas? Dublin is a capital city, its quite a busy place, it needs integrated public transport. In fact, it needs more Luas' (Luases? Luasi) I'm sure the government spend whats left over from farmers grants on "Junkies taxi fare" (whatever that may be?) in other towns down the country as well. Don't be feeling so hard done by, country cousin :)

Also, that article is pretty disgraceful. I can only imagine the outrage if it had been written by a Dublin dweller, or if Dublin even had an equivilant website...such bitterness.
