I normally buy from ebay... for the image above you want to use 14 count aida and for your thread cut a length and you'll notice that the 'thread' is actually a number of threads put together. Separate it so that you are only using two threads. If that makes sense!!!

For threads just head to Argos. They have a good offer on thread.

Hi, thanks for replying. I have been stitching quiet a while so I am good with the techniques it is more where to get good supplies.

I have bought from eBay but I wish there was a reasonably priced bricks& mortar shop:(

Little Miss Cutie, I've been stitching for about 12 years now and I've found eBay UK the cheapest by far. I don't know where you are, but I'm in the Midlands and it's near impossible to find an Aida supplier. There's one little shop near me owned by an elderly lady and she sometimes has it, but I was only in with her yesterday and she said it's getting harder to source. Instead of buying 12x18 (or other sizes) on eBay, search for fat quarters. Often there's loads and loads of material in the bag for less than €5. I find threads really expensive too - I've gotten those ones in Argos before and I didn't like them, they knot too easily (that's not to say they aren't good - just not for me). I use eBay again for mixed bags of embroidery thread/floss, and also for boxes of threads - There are always a few listings for 24-42 anchor/DMC/trebla/madeira threads at very, very reasonable prices - got a box of 24 anchor a while back for about €7, whereas the local habedashery [sic] is €1.20 per skein. Hope this helps!

I used to cross stitch quite a lot but my eyes gave up on it, as a result from an American holiday I have tons of DMC and aida and some linen and evenweave in a cupboard. If anyone is interested in anything please pm me.

Note to mod, if this is inappropiate please delete.

No problem with this - so long as you keep your dealings via PM - or if you wish to advertise the items perhaps put an ad up on www.adverts.ie and take it from there!
